The board game “Ludo” was patented in England in 1896 and, just like the German classic “Mensch ärgere dich nicht”, was inspired by the Indian game “Pachisi”. That's why the rules of “Ludo” and “Mensch ärgere dich nicht” are very similar. In this online version, you compete against three computer opponents.
Three game modes are available: “Classic”, “Quick” and “Rush”. While in Classic mode you have to end up with four playing pieces in the house, in Quick mode it is enough to get one piece into the house. In Rush mode, it is again four playing pieces, but you don't have to wait for your opponents' moves, you can keep rolling the dice.
These are the rules for the classic mode
Each player has four playing pieces that start in their own corner. You have to roll a 6 to move a piece out of the corner and onto the playing field.
When a 6 is rolled, you can generally roll again.
On your turn, you roll the dice and move your piece the number of spaces shown on the dice.
If you land on a space where an opponent's piece is already standing, you throw it back into their corner. You may then roll again. You can get a bonus for knocking out pieces using the “knock off” buttons.
Your pieces are safe from being knocked out on your starting square and on the square with the defense shield.
You have to run around the whole playing field once and then bring your figures to your house. The house is the four-colored square playing field in the middle of the board. If one of your playing pieces reaches the house, you may roll the dice again.
The first player to bring all four of his playing pieces to his house wins.
The better your placement at the end of a round, the more coins you win. You can use your winnings to unlock and collect more dice sets in the shop.
