Checkers is played on 8x8 squares of a chessboard. Two opponents compete against each other with the typical disc-shaped pieces and fight for victory.
Your aim is to put the opposing player out of action. You can do this by collecting all of his pieces or blocking him so that he no longer has any options to move. You also want to reach his base line to become a king and open up more playing options for your disk. The game is only played on the black squares. In the menu, you can set the exact rule variants you want to play by and adjust the basic rules.
These are the rules for Checkers Legend
The white player starts the checkers game and must move a piece from his front row diagonally forward. The following are the basic rules of the classic checkers game and possible variations that you can set in the rules menu:
There is a general obligation to capture, which can only be carried out by moving diagonally across the board on the black squares. You can also switch off or change the forced move in the rules menu.
If you jump over an opponent's piece, it will be removed from the board. Of course, this also applies to your pieces, so proceed strategically and consider before your move whether your piece can then be jumped over and thus captured.
You may not jump over your own pieces.
If a player reaches the opponent's base line, this piece is marked with another piece or, as here, with a star and thus becomes a king. Only the king can normally be moved backwards. Whether he has to stop immediately after capturing or can continue to move depends on your settings for his move and capture options.
Capturing the king has priority unless you set it otherwise. If normal pieces are also allowed to move backwards, you can also set this for yourself.
